(Cheap) Flying in Brazil

by lulu on Thu Sep 25, 2008 11:10 am

I have been flying in Brazil with GOL, TAM and Webjet... But never have I succeeded to buy my ticket online!

I have a Swiss Mastercard, Swiss Visa card. Since this month I have a CPF number...

1. flight (GOL):
I couldn't buy online without CPF
I went to desk in airport
They didn't accept my Mastercard (actually they charged it 6 times until it got blocked)
I went to ATM to get cash and pay

2. flight (tried GOL/TAM)
I still didn't have CPF, so GOL failed online
TAM online didn't accept credit card (Mastercard)
I bought Webjet ticket with cash in tourist office

3. flight (received CPF number, tried GOL/TAM)
GOL website said, my CPF birth date was incorrect... !?
TAM online didn't accept my credit cards (Mastercard and Visa) without telling me why
    (Thanks Hans for helping me!)

In December I'll be back in Brazil and would like to buy some tickets in advance...
So I have some questions:
How do you fly in Brazil/buy tickets? (They told me it's more expensive to buy the ticket in the office - which makes sense...)
What about cheap flights? I heard people saying they flew for 1R$, but I never found a flight for a price like that... How?
Is it possible that they registered my CPF with a wrong birth date? (How) can I check/change this from Switzerland? Or is it maybe that it takes some time until the CPF is valid (Somehow you can confirm the CPF on the website of Receita Federal, which seemed to be ok.)

Its true there have been some really crazy offers. They come in the press, on the TV everywhere in fact. TAM had an excellent offer only a few weeks ago but you could only fly at certain times.
