There are lots of people who use their bikes in João Pessoa not only for leisure, but as the sole means of transport in their daily lives. So, the bicycle paths that will link the neighbourhoods from Altiplano to Tambau have been seen as great news for those people because of the security and safety that it will bring to those who need to get to those areas by bike.
The section that has just been finished has already benefited many people who use it on a daily basis.The building of this 4km “cyclovia” or cycle path is part of an integral action plan (PAI), announced by the Mayor, Ricardo Coutinho (PSB) for 2009 and 2010 and will be implemented by the Infrastructure Secretariat (Seinfra).
The cost is budgeted at R$1 million reais, R$100 thousand of which is coming from the resources of the Prefeitura of Joao Pessoa and the other R$ 900 thousand will come from the federal Government.
