I am Didier, French born and living in JP since 1982... (probably the oldest "gringo" of this forum...). Living at Cabo Branco beach. Associated Professor at Music Department of Federal University (20th Century Music's History & Aesthetics; Computer Music). Researcher at CNPq (20th Century Musicology; Computers & Musicology). Also composer (eletronic music and all around).
Besides music (including opera), I love trekking, ecotourism, Nordeste Hinterland, afro-brazilian culture & arts, brazilian women , good food and barzinhos... And vintage cars, too...
Cheers to all.

Mr Jugg replies;
Hello Didier, welcome to the Forum and many thanks for letting us in on your tastes. I am pleased there is someone else that loves Opera. All my family love opera. I would be really grateful if you could let me know of any opera or classical music events in Joao Pessoa. Further, anything to do with ballet and choirs.
What do you think of the cuisine here in Joao Pessoa? Can you recommend some good restaurants?

Many thanks, Toby (Tobias)

Reading your post again I saw your note about vintage cars. Did you know the Paraiba classic car club meets on the praça of the retao de Manaira once a month?

Hello Didier and welcome to the forum, it was good to see you yesterday, we seem to bump into each other at lots, the 29th February party on the beach and "bebe blues come jazz" being just a couple of places, but until yesterday I think we just said hello and hadn't really introduced ourselves.

I saw you play with Stephan and Orlando at bebe bules come jazz and maybe you'd like to play at our next get together? (I'll leave you to think about that ) I'm sure we will bump into each other soon and can chat about it, I go to bebe blues come jazz most Sundays with Jean-Pierre so I'm sure we will meet there sometime soon.

The V8 you arrived in made a lot of heads turn, its only the second V8 I've seen in JP (the sound of a V8 is music to my ears).

Chat soon

Answer to Tobby

Hi! Somebody can tell me how can I reply to one single post instead of all together?
Anyway, Tobby:

(1) I'm afraid there is no chance for some (good) opera venue em JP...
But I periodically organize opera DVD sessions at home with some aficionados... I'm thinking about publicizing this project through some institution such as Zarinha Centro Cultural in Tambau.

(2) Some restaurants I like em JP: Porto Madero; Appetito; Casa do Bacalhau; Cubata; Degustar; Mangai; Pizza do Paulista; Savoir. But my (almost) every-night place is Giramundo... Hope I see you there!

To answer a post you can use the "quote" function at the top of the post you want to reply to or if you want to contact the person in private you can use the "PM" (private message)button, this is located on the right of the screen just under the posters user name.
