Business Visa
GENERAL RULES
Foreign citizens travelling to do business (but not to seek employment) in Brazil are generally required to have this type of visa.
· First entry into Brazil must be within 90 days from the date the visa is issued.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly.
· Length of stay in Brazil can be up to 180 days in any twelve-month period. The original visa allows for up to 90-day stay.
One single extension of up to 90 additional days is possible, at the discretion of the Brazilian Immigration Authorities (DPMAF).
EXEMPTION from this type of visa may be granted to citizens of Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, The Philippines, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, the Sovereign Order of Malta (citizens of Malta must have a visa), Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad y Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay and the Vatican, when travelling to Brazil on business.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
· Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than six months
Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted
· One visa application form, duly filled and signed by the applicant
· One passport-size photograph
· Original letter from the UK employer or institution to which the applicant is linked, stating the purpose and intended length of the stay in Brazil, as well as contacts to be maintained by the applicant
· Certificate of vaccination, where necessary
· Receipt of payment of the consular fee of £48.00 *
* United Arab Emirates citizens are subject to an additional processing fee of £12.00, on a reciprocity basis.
* USA citizens are subject to an additional processing fee of £104.00 on a reciprocity basis. On the same basis, attendance of the applicant in person is mandatory.
* Citizens whose visa applications must be submitted to the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations are subject to an additional fee of £20.00 .
* When applying through a travel agent or courier, an additional fee of £8.00 will be charged.
* When applying by post, an additional processing fee of £8.00 will be charged, which does not cover the costs of mailing documents back to sender.
