In 2002 there were 42,000 apartments in
Paraiba.
In four years this has increased by 21.43%
to 51,000 an increase of 9000 units.
Approximately 144,000 people now live in
apartments.
Overall there are 985,000 homes in Paraiba
for 3.6 million people which works out at 3.7 people to each home. Of these,
79.2% live in urban areas and 20.8 in rural areas. In just four years 34,000
people left the rural areas to live in the urban areas.
Concerning earnings, 38.7% of people living
in urban properties earn little more than half the minimum salary a month or
just over R$200.
