  2. I must say this is a great article i enjoyed reading it keep the good work :)

  3. Nice writing style. I look forward to reading more in the future.

  4. Please don’t forget to bring plastic bags with you because you won’t find any bins /trash cans on the beaches or anywhere else really.
There is still a great need of educating people in Brazil about littering.
I heard there was a project to ban plastic carrier bags from supermarkets in three years.

  5. Excellent advice but dont forget, every morning a bus load of city cleaners in red uniforms go down the beaches from lower Bessa right the way down to the end of Cabo Branco and beyond. Thats everyday. There are red metal bins on posts at regular intervals on the main city beaches, sand and pavement side. There are bins at the bars (a requirment and wheely bins at intervals.

The Prefeitura have a beach clearance scheme (some are posted at Coquirinho, Tambaba and Gramame to name but a few) Where the rubbish is piled up at a central point by the locals on the beach and they receive a payment for recycling.

    Thanks Paul

  7. Hello Paul, I think that if I were to reply to your points then I would just be repeating everything that has already been written on this site.

Have you read the above “related content”?

Also take a look at accommodation too.

Also have you registered with the forum where you can ask more detailed questions of people actually living in Joao Pessoa. There you are likely to get a more direct reply.
    Good luck.

  8. I am looking for English lesson free. So if someone is looking for Portuguese lesson free, I can do exchange lessons Portuguese for English.

  9. If you want to check on your process you can do so from this site: http://www.mj.gov.br/data/Pages/MJ1C684B92ITEMID857642E424BA450FB23C694F67B340DBPTBRIE.htm

Type your protocol number in the box that says “processo” with no gaps, dots or dashes, if “not found” the papers may not be in Brasilia. It can take as long as 18 month to 2 years.

  13. The region which has created the highest number of jobs in the whole of Brazil is Paraiba. In August alone 6,799 jobs were created.

  14. Great law! How about reducing the IPTU of the household for every tree planted?

  15. One need not travel to China to find indigenous cultures lacking human rights or to Cuba for political prisoners. America leads the world in percentile behind bars, thanks to ongoing persecution of hippies, radicals, and non-whites under banner of the war on drugs. If we’re all about spreading liberty abroad, then why mix the message at home? Peace on the home front would enhance global credibility.

The drug czar’s Rx for prison fodder costs dearly, as lives are flushed down expensive tubes. My shaman’s second opinion is that psychoactive plants are God’s gift. Scripture (Gen.1:12) is clear. Behold, it’s all good. Canadian Marc Emery sold seeds that enable American farmers to outcompete cartels with superior local herb. He’s being extradited to prison, for doing what government can’t do, reduce U.S. demand for Mexican.

Only on the authority of a clause about interstate commerce does the CSA (Controlled Substances Act of 1970) reincarnate Al Capone, endanger homeland security, and throw good money after bad. Official policy is to eradicate, not tax, the number-one cash crop in the land. America rejected prohibition, but it’s back. Apparently, SWAT teams don’t need no stinking amendment. Father, forgive those who make it their business to know not what they do.

Nixon promised that the Schafer Commission would support the criminalization of his enemies, but it didn’t. No matter, the witch-hunt was on. No amendments can assure due process under an anti-science law without due process itself. Psychology hailed the breakthrough potential of LSD, until the CSA halted all research and pronounced that marijuana has no medical use, period.

The RFRA (Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993) allows Native American Church members to eat peyote, which functions like LSD. Americans shouldn’t need a specific church membership or an act of Congress to obtain their birthright freedom of religion. Denial of entheogen sacrament to any American, for mediation of communion with his or her maker, precludes free exercise of religious liberty.

Freedom of speech presupposes freedom of thought. The Constitution doesn’t enumerate any governmental power to embargo diverse states of mind. How and when did government usurp this power to coerce conformity? The Mayflower sailed to escape coerced conformity. Legislators who would limit cognitive liberty lack jurisdiction.

Common-law must hold that adults are the legal owners of their own bodies. The Founding Fathers decreed that the right to the pursuit of happiness is inalienable. Socrates said to know your self. Mortal lawmakers should not presume to thwart the intelligent design that molecular keys unlock spiritual doors. Persons who appreciate their own free choice of path in life should tolerate seekers’ self-exploration.

The back log is massive, the postal force isn’t.

  20. Great site guys! I live in Carapibus and am happy to communicate with anyone regarding this area. Cheers!

  21. Well, as long as it says the word “RECOVERY”, I am happy. In the last few months, we have heard about recession so much that people have become sick and tired of litsening the faults made by government & companies. It is the time we move ahead, plan for our future and stay disciplined.

  23. Pier Today & Pier Tomorrow.

Well it was supposed to have been demolished but the company doing the work failed miserably. The foundation parts of the pier supports & the end part of the pier have been left with jagged concrete and reinforcing metal sticking out. This makes it a real hazard for swimmers especially as it cannot be seen at high tide.
The council have now erected signs warning bathers to keep clear but who here can read a sign let alone obey it!!
    The saga drags on!

  39. When asking Fly Brazil in the Netherlands, we were told that they are:

“… always looking for new destinations to improve our products. At this moment in time there are NO serious plans to execute flights to Joao Pessoa.”

    And

“Right now we are focusing on 2010. As far as 2011 is concerned, no news. As soon as any new plans are developed, they will appear on our website”

So it is just Wishful Thinking - very similar to what we were told by other operators 4 or 5 years ago……

  40. I am not surprised at all.
The same story was going around a few years ago, when they told the world that the airport was going to be international in 2005.
    Ooppss… I mean 2006.
    Nope, 2007!
    2008?

  41. Hi, I’ve just now stumbled upon this blog while searching around the Internet as I am researching some information on electric cellos!. I think it’s an interesting site so I bookmarked this site and intend to come back tomorrow to enjoy a better read when I have more time.

  42. I’VE BEEN TRAVELING TO BRASIL THE LAST THREE YEARS, INSOFAR THE MIAMI TO RECIFE THEN JOAO PESSOA BY AA HAS TAKEN 11 HOURS, BETTER THEN TO SAO PAULO - JOAO PESSOA 22 HOURS. I DO WISH AN INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL USA - JOAO PESSOA, BUT MAYBE TOWARDS THE WORLD CUP IN 2014. I HOPE SOONER.

  45. The issue is that everybody promises DIRECT INTERNATIONAL flights to Joao Pessoa. These marketing lies used by estate agents and tourism offices.
They all know it won’t happen!

Once the BR101 is ready, it’ll take 90 minutes to Recife, which has a REAL international airport with direct services to the US and EU.

  46. Excellent restaurant for lunch with a very organic feel. Very reasonable prices.

  47. It s true there are good connections from Recife to Lisbon, thats all. people who like to other countries in Europe faces bad “through-conections” to other airports in europe.
If Fortaleza and Natal may have a direct weekly connection with Amsterdam, it could be have it with JP as well, very easy. Recife does not offer any advantage for tourists, while JP and Campina Grande has a lot of offers ( see this website)and with the BR-101 cities as Pipa, Tibau do sul, litoral de Natal, Natal/PN, Mossara in RN and in Ceara cities as Canoa Gebrada, Fortaleza and the Serra nature. A ropundtrip could start in JP and ends in Fortaleza.

  48. Salutte is a very nice restaurant, you won’t be disappointed.
It’s a self service, which means you pay per weight. A meal should cost you between 20-30 reais

  49. Also an excellent choice.
I had the “pescada amarela”, it’s a very tasty fish, comes with vegetables, rice, fired macaxeira and fries.
They did get the order mixed up a little, even though we were nearly alone in the restaurant.
Also, if you order the fresh fruit cocktail, be aware it can take a little longer than the other drinks.
    otherwise, a memorable experience

  50. this is a classic, everyone who comes to João Pessoa should try it at least once.
A huge variety of typical dishes are available.
If you don’t like crowds, you should avoid going there at weekends, as it is invaded by hords of hungry tourists.
Be aware that they don’t serve alcoholic drinks. If you need the waiter, you have to ring the cowbell hanging from the table.
It is however possible to ask for a free taste of the local cachaça and rapadura after your meal.

  51. All I have to say is order a “caipirinha grande”, you won’t be disappointed. It is not advisable to drive afterwards :)

They have an interesting variety of cachaça mixed with fruits

  52. @ Dora - I agree.
A few more international hotels, a conference center and a recognizable name on the map would help.

    @ sjoerd - I agree.
A few more international hotels, a conference center and a recognizable name on the map would help.

Fortaleza and Natal have an excellent infrastructure, and a huge following of largely low-cost tourists.

Is that what you want in Paraiba as well?

  53. i just want to inform that im selling my US dollars just like the dollars picture on your website.i own a lot of this.

  54. Dont forget its open on Sunay mornings at 7.00am. The breakfasts are second to non. Really like the Christmas lights this year.

  55. As we reported:
GOL has started operating a daily flight between Rio de Janeiro (Galeão) and João Pessoa (Paraíba). The flight will leave Rio de Janeiro at 23:48 hrs and will arrive in the Capital of Paraíba at 01:40 hrs. The flight will leave from João Pessoa at 02:35 hrs with expected arrival in Rio at 06:30 hrs.

Now lets see what the new year brings for Flybrazil.nl

  56. And as we reported:
FlyBrazil.nl is most likely NOT going to operate into Joao Pessoa.
JPA is not on their agenda for 2010!

  57. I remember being told “The cruise ships will never stop at Cabedelo” and guess what is now stopping at Cabedelo?

    April isn’t far away

  58. important post , really good position on the subject and very well written, this certainly has put a spin on my day, umpteen thanks from the USA and retain up the good work

  59. We asked them personally.
There is simply not enough interest for a single, relatively small operator, from a small country to fill an aircraft for a weekly service.
By all means, if you could help them find additional operators who come up with financial guarantees, they might change their mind.
Programs are made up to 8 months in advance, so keep that in mind!

  60. Hey there I came across this post by chance, I was flipping through Yahoo for travel deals to Oahu when I found your blog, I must say your site is really interesting I truely think the layout, its amazing!. I don’t have the time right now to entirely read through your webpage but I have bookmarked it and also subscribed for your RSS feeds. I will be back when I free up some time. Thanks for a excellent website.

  61. We also contacted flybrazil.nl about this story and this is what they told us, “It is still not sure/confirmed that we will fly directly to Joao Pessoa in 2010″, (direct quote from their email to us).

The original story came as a press release from Joao Pessoa City Council.

    April isn’t far away :)

  66. Hi All,

Now they sale on the fly brazil website flights Amsterdam - Joao pessoa starting from April. Looks like it is going to happen :)
Or am I a bit to optimistic?

  67. Valuable content, thanks

  68. sure,it is true they planning direct flights, but the airport still need some extra investment in infrastruture and mankind to care for the passengers from a big boeing-aircraft coming from europe. But let us hope they will ready in time for receiving the tourists. It will be a big injection for the airport and all the people/companies related to the tourist-industry

  69. The company confirmed today that flights start on 6 April, prices on web site.

  70. More power to you.i have actually bookmarked it to show some of my friends

  71. This is great news for Joao Pessoa and for me personally when I want to fly to JP from Europe. I hope more flights follow.
I cannot find any info about these flights. Are they advertising them yet or are they part of holiday deal?.
    Regards

    Linda

  72. Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here.

  73. hello

  74. well Linda, look for http://www.arkefly.comand youmay find it.unfortunately it is in dutch, butthe buying procedrure is qualto all airlines .and if you nedhelp, please write me.

  79. As MVisser, PETER and Dora said: We Have Heard This Marketing Story Before ……..

  80. It seems that the April operation has been delayed.
ArkeFly told me it is now probably in June.
    Probably?

    Hhmm….
As Let’s Wait, MVisser, PETER and Dora said:
“We Have Heard This Marketing Story Before”

  81. I have friends traveling out on flight to Joao Pessoa on 6th April.
Flight stops at Forteleaza first. Will keep you informed
    of comments on flight.

  82. Oh Dear seems Expected Arkfly - fly Brazil The Amsterdam flight to Joao Pessoa has now been re-directed to land at Natal as runway at Joao Pessoa still not ready. (April flight)
Friends have been offered transfer from Natal to Joao Pessoa
    for 40 euros each way.
Heard Condor flights may resume Frankfurt to Recife.

  83. Why does this nor surprise us at all?
Those who bought a package should be bused to Joao Pessoa, without surcharge.
And those who bought a ticket should read the small print. There’s some new legislation in force!

  84. it is said that the government need to invest some at the airport in order it will be possible to handle a huge Boeing. And there is a struggle who has to pay this investment. Flybrasil like to land already today, but needs to wait until the government do their promises.

  85. Don’t tell me ‘they’ did not know how long a runway needs to be when they started renovating, in 2005?
Obviously it is a typical $$$ issue: neither the State nor the Federal Government wants to cough up the cash.
And why should ArkeFly pay for this? It is a long term investment in Tourism. Paraiba has some serious advantages over most other NE States, but they will have to get ready before selling themselves to operators!
