GENERAL RULES
Foreign citizens must have this type of visa when travelling to Brazil to do voluntary work (activities undertaken on behalf of religious entities, charitable organisations and non-profit NGOs, that do not constitute employment of any form, paid or unpaid, with or without a contract). - Applications for this type of visa must be lodged in person
- Applicants must have lived in the UK for at least one year prior to the visa application
- Applicants must lodge their application in person
- First entry into Brazil must be within 90 days from the date the visa is issued (It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly)
- Within 30 days of arrival in Brazil, bearers of this type of visa must register with the Brazilian Immigration authorities (DPMAF) and submit the second copy of the visa application form, which will have been stamped and returned to them by the Consulate General.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (original documents and one complete set of photocopies)
- Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than 6 months (Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted)
- Photocopy of the relevant pages of passport (certified by the Consulate General (fee applicable)
- Three visa application forms, duly filled and signed by the applicant
- Three passport-size photographs
- Proof of professional experience or qualification compatible with the work to be carried out, with a photocopy, both certified by the Consulate General (fee applicable)
- For applicants of 18 years of age or above: Certificate of Prosecution/Conviction History
- Letter of invitation from the Brazilian institution (signature certified by a notary in Brazil)
- Document with details on work place and type of activities to be carried out by the applicant (signature certified by a notary in Brazil).
- An undertaking in writing from the Brazilian institution assuming full responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant, as well as for medical and hospital expenses of the applicant and his dependants while in Brazil and for his/her return to the country of origin (signature certified by a notary in Brazil).
- Certified photocopy of the Brazilian institution’s social statutes or articles of association, duly registered with the competent Brazilian authority.
- Certified photocopy of the act of appointment of the acting board of directors.
- Certified photocopy of up-to-date registration with the respective National, State, Federal District or Municipal Social Welfare Council, or of other document certifying the institution’s qualification as a charitable organization (“sociedade civil de interesse público”), issued by the Ministry of Justice of Brazil.
- Certified photocopy of up-to-date certification that the Brazilian Institution is fully functional, usually issued by the City Council in Brazil (“Prefeitura”).
- Due authorisation by the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil, which may take 60 days to be processed.
- Certificate of vaccination, where necessary
- Receipt of payment of the consular fee
