GENERAL RULES
Foreign citizens travelling to Brazil as technical or college student trainees must have this type of visa. Exemption from this type of visa may be granted to nationals of Austria, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, The Philippines, Poland, Spain, and United Kingdom, provided that their stay does not exceed 90 days, and they do not receive any payment in Brazil. Applicants must lodge their application in person. The applicant’s passport must be valid for no less than six months.
First entry into Brazil must be no later than 90 days after the visa is issued. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly. Within 30 days of arrival in Brazil, bearers of this type of visa must register with the DPMAF and submit the second copy of the visa application form, which will have been stamped and returned to them by the Consulate General. Length of stay in Brazil can be no longer than one year.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than 6 months (Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted)
- Two visa application forms, duly filled and signed by the applicant
- Two passport-size photographs
- For applicants of 18 years of age or above: Certificate of Prosecution/Conviction History
- Proof of financial means for the duration of the stay in Brazil
- It is illegal for the bearer of this visa category to receive a salary from a Brazilian source
- Payment of travel, accommodation and out-of-pocket expenses is permitted
- Written confirmation of the applicant’s acceptance by the Brazilian institution or company where the training will take place. The signature on that letter must be legalised by a Notary (Tabelião) in Brazil.
- Letters of introduction form a recognised student exchange institution (eg. IAESTE, AIESEC), or an international co-operation organisation, or international co-operation Department of a Brazilian Ministry. The signature on that letter must be legalised by a Notary (Tabelião) in Brazil.
- Certificate of vaccination, where necessary
- Receipt of payment of the consular fee
