Unimed of João Pessoa are now in a position to give up to 30% discount off their plans to members of the Paraíba Paradise Association (CNPJ 10.634.092/00015). This is a special arrangement for the association and in no way compares with offers given to other associations.Some of you will have already received an email from us in the last few days about Unimed membership.This is because you have registered with the site for Gold membership. If you did not receive an email from us then you are currently not on the members email list, so you need to read on, if you want to get 30% off your health insurance with Unimed.In order to qualify for this discount you need to be a member of the Paraíba Paradise Association (see below for details, in the Association news),.The joining fee has been discounted from R$250 a year to R$150 but that discount will end after the first 150 people sign up. You could get as much as R$1700 discount a year on a family policy with Unimed, so you can see it is worth joining.

We have been contacted by the Prefeitura of João Pessoa about a special course to qualify you as a Technical Tourism Guide.
This is a course offered by FUNETEC, whose objectives meet the needs and expectations of training and qualifying the labour force, through actions aimed at planning, organization, supervision, promotion and contributing to the economic, social, cultural and environmental state of Paraíba and Brazil.
The course is divided into three modules:
960 hours in total.
The Technical Tourism Guide will be able to work in travel agencies and operators, public or private agencies and tour independently.
There are 55 places available on the course “Technical Tourism Guide” - Regional and National:
The course will last for 16 (sixteen) months and can be paid for in monthly installments of R$195.00 (one hundred and ninety-five reais).It may be possible for a student to get a discount of 50% if sponsored by local government.

As we have mentioned before in the past, the Paraíba Paradise Association is a “not for profit” Association. We are happy to report that the ONG is already up and running and its full name is: Association Paraíbana de Integracao Socio-Cultural Entre Nacionais e Estrangeiros Residentes no Pais (The Paraíba Paradise Association) CNPJ 10.634.092/000115.
The intention is that all profits from the association will go into local projects that meet the criteria set out in our constitution. So when you join you know that your money will help towards promoting education, integration as well as other Ong’s or charities.
We have places on the committee for more members who wish to help promote João Pessoa as a family city and who want to become more involved with the local community.

As the site is now being used to support and promote the ONG, we are having to rethink the free advertising policy we had, it will be discussed at a future meeting so if you currently have a free advert on the site you will be contacted if there is any change to the current policy.
If you have any idea of things you would like to see on the site please let us know and we will try to accommodate them.
One of the things people have asked for is more restaurant reviews. The restaurant reviews are submitted anonymously by many people, so please feel free to send us a review and we will publish it on the site. We would also ask you to leave a comment at the end of the reviews. Restaurants change hands and styles, even close, so it is useful to know.
We have also been asked if we can provide a list of good quality tradesman and a list of places that people recommend for buying goods, so if you know of any, please let us know as a recommendation is always a good way to find workman and other services.

The website is going from strength to strength and we can report that we have had over 1.2 million hits and over 400 people have registered for the newsletter. The forum has lots of new members from all over the world.
We started the site because we found it very hard to find any information about João Pessoa and Paraíba in English on the internet and we would like to thank those of you who have helped and contributed to the site. If you have anything you would like us to publish please sent it to admin@paraibaparadise.com .
The provisional date for the next get-together is Sunday, 15th March.
We are currently in talks with a restaurant on the Tambau/Cabo Branco border and will send out further information as soon as we have it. Music, if any, will be background music.
Unimed have asked to attend to deal with any enquireis personally. There may also be an opportunity to meet with lawyers Mouzales,Borba and Azevedo.
We have been contacted by someone on the email list who has 6 kittens that they are looking for good homes for, if you would like one or two of these kittens please contact dave@paraibaparadise.com and he will send your email address to the person concerned.
The forum is a well used site facility providing lots of information and giving you a chance to have your say. It has a search facility so the next time you want to find out anything try the forum search or simply post a query. As an example, we receive many enquiries about any pousadas, bars and restaurants for sale, as well as requests for places to stay, long and short term.
