Keke and Patrick have invited us to hold our Christmas get-together at their pousada, restaurant and Irish bar in Bessa, Joao Pessoa, Paraiba. It will take place on Sunday the 11th of December 2011 and will start at 1pm and finish by 7pm.
The address is: Pousada O’neill, Av Presidente Afonso Pena 1170, Bessa, Joao Pessoa. Here is a map showing the venue. It is on the main one-way street heading from Bessa to Manaira next to China Shanghai on the corner with Av. Press. Artur Bernardes.
If you are coming from the direction of Manaira along the beach road, Av. Artur Monteiro Paiva you will need to turn left opposite the beach bar Coqueiro’s at Av. Press. Artur Bernardes and the pousada O’neill is about 50 meters on the right.
As always there will be a book and DVD exchange, so be sure to dig out all those old books you keep meaning to bring and swap. We would once again like to give people the option to bring 1Kg of non-perishable food or a child’s toy that we will donate to a local ONG working in Joao Pessoa, Paraiba (also we would be very happy to accept any clothes and shoes).
Don’t forget that on the website forum there is a section called “items wanted or for sale“, it is full of household items for sale from people moving abroad as well as things like bikes, boats etc. Don’t miss out on a bargain!
If you have any items for sale just send us an email and we will add them to this section, there is no charge.
The next get-together will take place in two weeks time on Sunday the 7th August, starting about 1pm and finishing by 7pm, at “Bessa Brasil”, Avenida Artur Monteiro Paiva, 1320 Bessa, telephone number (83) 3245 3742. This is the one-way street that runs along the sea front in Bessa.
Bessa Brasil is the first restaurant on the left, it is not one of the bars on the beach. Here is a map.
There will be a covered area reserved for us and there is a child’s play area, they also have a website with some information about their menu. The last get-together at Marinas went well and we would like to thank all those who attended. I forgot to take my cameras, but Colin and Jim both took pictures and video. Unfortunately I am unable to access them from here, but will post them on the site as soon as I can.
There is a new website about Intermares that some people may be interested to read, it is in Portuguese but translates well. It is called A voz de Intermares (the voice of Intermares), it is a place for local people to chat about local events, well worth keeping an eye on if you live in that area.
Items for sale: there is a section in the website forum with many items for sale, take a look, there is everything from fishing gear to fridges, bikes, cars and many household items.
