Brazilian Federal Police arrested on Wednesday 59 people in two massive anti-drug operations in nine states and the Federal district.
In Operation Triangle, 37 drug dealers were arrested in the states of Minas Gerais, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Bahia.
According to the police, the drug ring operated near the border with Paraguay, Bolivia and Colombia, purchasing drugs to be sold in the six states.
In Operation Pearl, the police arrested 22 drug dealers.
Police said the drug gang was headed by a criminal who is being imprisoned in Goias state. He commanded the drug business by over 50 different phone lines to escape surveillance.
The police said that the drug suspects nabbed in Operation Pearl bought drugs in Colombia, transported them to Brazil and later shipped them to the U.S. and Europe.
