Brazilian slum dwellers, including more than 100,000 residents of Rocinha shantytown, the country’s biggest slum, will have free internet access, authorities said.
Under the Rio State Digital programme carried out by the science and technology department and the Pontificia Universidad Catolica, people of Rocinha and three other areas will be provided internet service free of cost, Agencia Brasil news service said.
Providing training on how to use computer and internet is also part of the programme
